Let's Hear from You
This school year, it was important for me to truly understand my role as a trustee and how I can best contribute to the
great work already happening in the Jersey City Public Schools. As artificial intelligence continues to reshape many
entry level positions, I feel a growing responsibility to help our students build the skills that will keep them competitive.
Our district has made meaningful strides in creating opportunities for students to strengthen critical thinking, problem
solving, digital literacy, and collaboration, and I would like to see these offerings continue to expand. These are the
kinds of experiences that prepare students for future careers where human judgment, creativity, and empathy remain
essential.
Social and Emotional Learning is also an important part of this preparation. Yale University’s research published in
Child Development confirms that SEL improves academic performance, wellbeing, and students’ sense of safety in
school. I appreciate that our district has been attentive to this work, and I believe that approaching SEL through an
equity lens will help every child from kindergarten through twel昀琀h grade feel seen and supported.
I am encouraged by the progress already underway and look forward to watching these efforts grow even stronger.
As we move forward, sustaining classroom environments that inspire curiosity, independence, and confidence remains
top of mind. When students feel emotionally safe and supported, they are more willing to think deeply and meet the
challenges of a rapidly changing world. My goal is to help foster learning environments where every student feels
capable, valued, and prepared for future roles that depend on human skill.
